- Looking for
the place of marraige for my gfather George Nelson JEFFCOAT and
my gmother Lela Lacy BAILEY. Think it might be Floyd Co. They married
in Oct. of 1918 and it was most likely a Methodist preacher who
married them. Could someone be kind enough to check the marraige
records for 1918 or the Ministers returns for that year in the Methodist
churches there. Also, they lived in a very large house near the
High School. The house was the first one on the left down the street
facing away from the Football stadium. If anyone could give me the
address of that house or take a picture for me, I would love to
add it to my collection. I have many childhood memories of that
huge house. There were apts in it that they rented out and a drive
that went around the back of the house if that helps locate it for
anyone. If anyone knew either of my grandparents and would like
to relate some stories to me, please call me collect at 919-357-2162
or write me at RR2 Box 348-17, Gates N.C. 27937. Also, for those

- I'm researching
the YOUNG family name. My grandfather, William "Martin" YOUNG born
02 Jun 1881 and his first wife Serna KELSEY born 27 Feb 1835 traveled
to Texas between 1900 and 1903 with their daughter Bessie. (and
possible their son Frank) I have a photo taken around 1905 with
Martin, Serena and Bessie . The photo is on a hard type postcard
and has printed on it "Foster, Home Studio, Bonham, Texas". Bessie,
thier daughter had a sore on her left side of her head and stories
are told they went to Texas to have her operated on for the sore.
The sore shows in the photo. She died (1905??)on the train going
to or from Texas as stories have it. I'm assuming coming from Texas
as I have the photo of her being in Texas. The train was suppose
to have stopped and they buried her along side the tracks. I do
not know if she was operated on or not. Martin and Serna's other
2 children were Frank born 23 Dec1900 and died 28 Jan 1903 and Grady
born 20 Mar 1906 and died 1995. Serna died after childbirth of Grady.
I know there were other family members who went to Texas durning
the early 1900's to work. Does any one have any info on this Foster,
Home Studio in Bonham? The name of a hospital in this town that
Bessie may have went to? I will share any info I have and would
appreciate any help or info anyone might have. Thanks. Shirley
