- FLYNN,
KENNEDY posted by Thomas
H. Tutt on Saturday, February 1, 1997
- I am interested
in tracing my father's maternal line. His mother's parents, Thomas
Patrick FLYNN and Isabel Ellen KENNEDY were in Galveston, Texas
when my grandmother, May Agnes FLYNN, was born on 10 Nov 1884. The
KENNEDY line, by family tradition, goes back an Irishman in the
early 1800s who stole a boat from his father only to be shipwrecked
on Newfoundland and rescued by Beothuck Indians. According to the
story, he married the chief's daughter, and had a child. While he
was unsuccessfully attempting to make up with his father in Limerick,
Ireland, the Beothuck, including his wife and daughter, had to flee.
Crossing the US border west of the Great Lakes, she may have entered
as last name CANADA. He then spent two years trying to find her,
at last caught up, and they settled in Texas.

to find out how my great uncle, Jacob R. COX came by 160 acres of
land in Menard County, Texas. In his estate record this land was
appraised, and this is all I have other than the guardian of the
estate was George Washington COX , Jacob's son. Both Jacob and George
lived in Gorden County, Georgia, and as far as I can tell they never
came to Texas. One possibility is John COX, Jacobs father who came
to the Indian territory in 1838 and was never heard from since.
He may have been military and received a grant of land. Any help

- Looking for
any information that anyone may have on William MENEFEE. I know
a great deal about what accomplished for the formation and government
of the Republic of Texas. I also know that he and his wife are now
buried in the State Cemetery in Austin. In fact I visited their
grave sites today. I do not have anything on their decendents other
than those in my direct line. I would really appreciate any information
that anyone out there has. If you have only a small bit or a whole
lot, please send it to me. If you would rather mail it to me, send
me an e- mail message and I will send you my address. Thanks very
much. By the way, His mothers last name was Agnes SUTHERLAND and
they had a nephew, William Depriest SUTHERLAND from Gonzales who
died in the Alamo. I would also appreciate any thing that some one
may have about that family also. Thanks.

- Seeking information
on Charles Taylor TEAGUE and his wife Elizabeth BURKETT. They were
in Lamar Co. by 1880. Also, Jasper N.TEAGUE and his wife Mary BURKETT.
I think possibly a sister of Mary and Elizabeth, Amanda, also lived
in Lamar Co. with her husband, Alfred TERRELL and their children.
Possibly also some of their LAWLER relatives were there. Any info
on these people greatly appreciated, especially on what happened
to Charles & Elizabeth's two oldest daughters, Love/Lou and
M(Mary); and the children of Jasper & Mary TEAGUE and cemetery records,
marriages, etc. Thank you.
