Ruliff pop place 30.273889, -093.732500 Located 1.5 miles southeast of Deweyville, Texas, on the Kansas City Southern railroad in the southeastern corner of Newton County. Ruliff became a station on the Texarkana and Fort Smith railroad when its tracks were laid into southeastern Newton County in 1898. A post office operated at Ruliff at two separate times. The first opened in 1899 with Henry C. Braddock as postmaster and it closed in 1908. A second post office operated at Ruliff from 1921 until 1928, when it was moved to Deweyville. Although the population of Ruliff was reported at 100 during the 1920s, the number declined to 40 in the mid-1940s. Only one business was open in the 1947. In the 1980s Ruliff, Texas, was a collection of widely-scattered buildings on the road to Deweyville and along the railroad tracks toward the Sabine River. No population for the community was given in 1998-1999 Texas Almanac.
