| Kent Branch | stream | 29.310556, -096.905278 | A watercourse that rises in south central Lavaca County and runs southeastly for four miles to its mouth on the Lavaca River, was named for the family of Andrew Kent (c1798 KY-06 Mar 1836 TX). Kent was among the thirty-two men who lived at Gonzales, Texas, and who answered the plea from the Alamo on 01 March 1836 by riding to give aid. When the Mexican army scaled the walls of the old mission on 06 March 1836, Kent died with the other defenders.
